Jashan and Tej

Here are the beautiful highlights from the wedding of Jashan and Tej. A Sikh wedding held at Guru Nanak Darbar, a stunning Gurdwara in Gravesend, Kent. The building was beautiful – a fitting location for the happy couple.

The couple had 15 hours coverage allowing us to capture every aspect of their day. Sikh weddings have a lot of traditions, from the ceremony itself to the Milni, or meeting, where key relatives from each side of the family meet and exchange a “haar” which is a traditional garland worn around the neck. It was important for us to capture all of these moments for the couple so they can really relive their big day when they watch their film.

There were three of us on the day – allowing us to get more angles, more moments and more emotion into the footage. From our experience with previous Sikh weddings we knew what to expect and how to approach each part of the day.

Every part of the day was meaningful and we wanted to show this on the highlights. Also, one of the things that really stands out in Asian weddings, in general, are the bright colours of the traditional dresses. We decided not to use the sound of the ceremony or speeches as a voice-over, but rather let the story be told visually. Soundtracks are always important but for this piece we felt that because of the lack of sound from the speeches and ceremony it was crucial that we found the perfect track to compliment the film.

We had a fantastic time filming this wedding and hope you enjoy viewing this highlights clip of their day.
